Mrs. Sandra K. Hopgood

SANDRA KAYE HOPGOOD, 62, of 2812 Wales Rd., Columbia, SC, formerly of Kingston, NY and originally from Whiteville, NC, departed her life Tuesday, February 28, 2017 in Lexington Medical Center in Lexington, SC. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 12:00PM at Central Missionary Baptist Church, 413 W. Virgil St. Whiteville, NC 28472.  Flowers should be sent to Peoples Funeral Home of Shallotte, Inc., 5190 Ocean Highway West, Shallotte NC, 910-754-6242.  Donations in lieu of flowers should be sent to Solid Rock United Church Global Ministries, PO Box 23128, Columbia, SC  29224 for the Sandra Kaye Thompson Scholarship Fund.  Burial will be at Campground cemetery in Whiteville.  The viewing will be held Friday, March 10, 2017 from 12:00-7:00 PM and the wake will be from 7:00-8:00 PM at Peoples Funeral Home of Whiteville, Inc., 707 Vinson Blvd, Whiteville NC. She leaves to mourn Elder Don Waters, son-Howard Hopgood Jr., three granddaughters, Allysa Simone Thompson, Sandi Alonso, Sydni Alonso, a host of adopted daughters and sons, Howard Hopgood Sr. and LeKia Hopgood who preceded her in death, sisters; Bette Murphy (Harrison) Bishop Perzavor Armour, Rev. Dr. Alice Green (Rev. Lester Green), six siblings, in laws, aunts and uncles who also preceded her in death, Reather Gittins,(Leslie) Eva Murphy (Berkley) Willie L. Thompson,(Edith), Charles Thompson (Mary) Wesley Thompson (Brenda) Avery Thompson, and one aunt, Emmaline Jones, eleven nephews, seven nieces, and a host of cousins, a special cousin- Mildred McAllister, other relatives and friends. Sandy was a member of New Jerusalem United Holy Church, Kingston New York, Bishop Perzavpr Armour, overseer, Rev. Damon Sutton, Pastor and a member of Solid Rock United Church Global Ministries, Columbia SC, Rev. Lester S.
